Just to the east of Dunbar is Whitesands Beach, a gorgeous bay with a great walk along the coast towards Barns Ness Lighthouse. There is also an interesting geology trail and lots of rock pools at low tide. This area is rich in limestone and lime has been mined here for centuries (the nearby cement factory confirms this), and as you walk these areas, you'll pass by limestone kilns dating from the 18th Century.
The beaches of Barns Ness and Skateraw lie further east with the imposing Torness Nuclear Power Station in the backdrop.
