The Ridge is a local charity that has a focus on providing accessible support, training and gardening opportunities as well as restoring our historic townscape to secure it for future generations. Our new address is 1 Black Bull Close but for now visitors can reach the new support centre via Garden Lane which is situated between Flux and The Found Gallery, making it easier for you to find us.
We do this through the:
Provision of locally-accessible support and training to disadvantaged people, with a view to improving their life chances, in particular (where appropriate) through support into employment.
Provision of support and empowerment to those struggling to access adequate life skills. This includes accessing cooking healthy food and benefiting from community gardening.
Restoring derelict or dilapidated land and buildings for uses which benefit the community and to deliver training in traditional construction skills.
We deliver on these purposes via a number of projects and services, including the work of our Support Team, volunteering opportunities in the Backlands and Empire Close gardens, through access to counselling, life skills training, provision of a free community freezer, employability courses for the unemployed, and training including Modern Apprenticeships in traditional skills, within our Ridge Foundations CIC.
