The Unfriend

Dunbar And District Amateur Drama Association (DADADA) are busy rehearsing their new production, which is coming to The Harbour Chapel at the end of February 2025.

Last year, the group impressively produced and performed three shows: ‘Bothered and Bewildered’ (February 2024), ‘Bondagers’ (August 2024), and their self-written murder mystery ‘The Last Writes’ (November 2024).

Following the success of these productions, DADADA are excited to present a modern comedy, ‘The Unfriend’ by Steven Moffat. This play was first performed in 2022 at The Minerva Theatre in Chichester and was later transferred to two London theatres, the Criterion Theatre in January 2023 and Wyndham’s Theatre in December 2023.

The plot centres on a couple, Peter and Debbie, who meet a stranger, Elsa, on holiday and who later becomes an unwelcome houseguest. The couple are too polite to ask her to leave, even though they learn online that she has a more than questionable past. What follows is a killer comedy with lots of laughs and awkward conversations where Peter and Debbie try, yet fail repeatedly to kick her out because it would constitute bad manners to do so.

Steven Moffat (OBE) is an award-winning writer whose television shows include Doctor Who and Sherlock (co-written with Mark Gatiss).

There will be four performances of The Unfriend at the Harbour Chapel between 27 February and 2 March 2025. Tickets will be on sale from the middle of January. Look out for further information and ticket links to follow.
