Learn how professional growers propagate seed and get ready for summer. Suitable for allotment and home growers

Come and join Dave Barfoot, Head Grower at Tyninghame Community Farm and learn to raise transplants from the professionals with lots of tips and tricks on growing healthy plants and getting ready for the growing season.
We will start with a tour of the market garden. In the workshop we will then cover -

  • The principles of propagation and raising healthy and successful plants
  • Different crop types and how to propagate them in a home setting
  • Early season growing and getting ready for spring
  • ·Planning for continued supply throughout the season - the art of successional sowings
  • Pest management - how to keep those pesky critters at bay the organic way
  • Some basic principles of food growing such as soil health and rotation

Full of easy tips and trick for the home gardener and allotment grower.

Pricing

We operate a Solidarity pricing model for our veg boxes and workshops. We encourage those who can to pay a little more, and those who can’t are encouraged to pay a discounted rate. By having a sliding scale, we are helping to create a fairer food system.

Solidarity fee £45 – for those who are able to meet their basic needs and have some disposable income
Standard fee £40
Discount fee £30 – for those who are regularly struggling to meet their basic needs.

If you haven't been to the Community Farm before, you will find us on the A198 just north of Tyninghame. The postcode is EH42 1XN.

We have 6 car parking spaces at the farm and space for 3 cars on the roadside. If using roadside parking, please be careful of the fast-moving traffic on the A198 when getting in and out of your car.

We encourage people to use the 120 bus route if possible which stops at the Lawhead junction just before/after Tyninghame Village. The 120 bus timetable is here
