Soil Association event, Planning for change

Join us at Lochhouses Farm to explore the upcoming Whole Farm Plans requirements and what these will mean for your farm.

About this Event

From 15 May 2025, in order to receive Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) payments, every farmer and crofter in Scotland will have to demonstrate that they have started to baseline land and livestock management practices, identified opportunities for improvement and are working towards being more sustainable, efficient and resilient.

Join us at Lochhouses Farm in East Lothian for a farm walk and workshop exploring the upcoming Whole Farm Plans requirements and what these will mean for your farm, how the Whole Farm Planning framework can be used to improve farm resilience, and potential benefits of reducing climate impacts of farming operations (e.g. using an IPM plan to reduce the need for expensive inputs).

We will look at Lochhouses’ farming enterprises, and how data is used to inform decision making. We’ll also consider how climate impacts such as more frequent floods, storms and droughts can impact farming operations and forward planning, how this can be factored into the WRP approach, and how features such as margins, wetlands and woodlands can be used to boost whole farm resilience.

Hot lunch included.
