European Land Art Festival & Stone Stacking Championships 2025

Europe's largest gathering of  land artists and stone stackers come together to create art with nature.

The programme includes land art demonstrations, rock stacking competitions, community workshops and live music and entertainment.

European Land Art Festival (elaf) was established back in 2016 as The John Muir Stone Stacking Challenge by Dunbar artist James Craig Page and entrepreneur Steven Hill, to promote the joys and benefits of stone stacking.

The festival has undergone a few changes since then and has evolved from a three-day competition to a week-long celebration that now also includes land art demonstrations, workshops and live music, attracting visitors and artists from all over the world.

The principal ideas of our organisation are many but perhaps primary is our desire to share the positive benefits of witnessing, or creating land art. We want to introduce it to as many people as we can, especially to children who despite the wealth of digital distractions can still readily enjoy getting back to what so many of us took for granted as children; playing freely in nature.
