Embroidery Class – Beginners

11:00 am - 4:00 pm September 9, 2023
The Bleachingfield Centre
Countess Crescent
Dunbar, EH42 1DX

Join embroidery artist Amy for a relaxing day of hand embroidery, where you will create an embroidery inspired by the flowers, fungi and insects found around you.

Your ticket includes all the materials: fabric, threads, designs, an embroidery hoop and needle, as well as instructions throughout the day. You get to take everything home with you!

This class is for people who feel confident with the basics of embroidery such as threading a needle and some basic stitches. It is a great follow up class to my beginners embroidery class as we will cover more advanced stitches that you may not feel confident doing at home. The class will only have up to 5 people so there will be plenty of time for questions and chat with your fellow class mates.

Your day will include -

  • In the morning you will complete a stitch sampler with guidance from Amy, covering a range of advanced beginner level stitches - such as Turkey Stitch, Couching and Pistol Stitch.
  • Break for a short lunch where you will have time to choose what design you want to start in the afternoon. Please note - tea, coffee and cake will be provided (please provide any allergy information) but lunch is not provided. Please bring a packed lunch with you.
  • After lunch Amy will take you through how to transfer a design on to fabric and how to get started and explore the embroidery stitches required to complete the design. Amy will be on hand to help with any problems you may have.
  • If you have a design that you are stuck with then bring it along and find your inspiration again. If your design is not completed in this class, you will have all the skills needed to complete it at home.

This is a great opportunity to be introduced to a new hobby and meet some new crafty friends.
