Embroidery and Stitching Workshop
2:00 pm - 3:30 pm April 23, 2022
Northern Light Arts and Dunbar Fashion School present Keepers of the Soil workshops
About this event
Continuing on with our pop-up stitching workshops we return with two more Keeper of the Soils embroidery/ applique sessions.
The Keepers of the Soils cape was created last year as a special garment to be worn by many people, with special pockets for carrying soils that are collected or have been donated. The cape was worn throughout the Pilgrimage for COP26 from Dunbar to Glasgow and 16 soils were collected along the way.
The Keeper symbolises a raising of awareness and celebration of soils.
The cape will be worn for public events and ceremonies during the forthcoming months, and leading up to an exhibition in June 2022.
We would love you to be part of this ongoing creation and are inviting local people to come and stich, embroider and applique parts of the cape.
All materials provided
The stitching workshops will be led by with Fashion School expert Jacqui , Jo from Rebellious Threads and artist fellow Natalie Taylor.
Some experience preferred but sewing newcomers welcome. Teas, coffees and snacks provided. Socially distanced where possible.
