Cultural Evening @ Harbour Chapel

7:00 pm - 9:30 pm November 26, 2025
Cultural Evening with Film and Discussion: Hamish Henderson
Yes Dunbar is delighted to host a cultural evening in the week leading up to St Andrew's Day. The evening will include:
- drinks on arrival
- a special showing of the film: Hamish Henderson - An Artist's Inspiration about one of Scotland's most iconic poets and writers
- a post-film discussion with the film's director (Michael Lloyd) and other key people involved in its making.
The ticket price includes: the venue, a dram of whisky or a glass of Prosecco or a non-alcoholic alternative as you arrive, the showing of the film itself (including a contribution towards its production costs) and the post-film discussion. The event will be chaired by Yes Dunbar Co-Convener, Diarmid Jamieson - but please note the focus is non-political: this is primarily a social and cultural event in the lead-up to St Andrew's Day, which falls at the following weekend.
Approximate timings are as follows:
- 7.00pm Doors open - Welcome drinks served
- 7.30pm Please take your seats - Introduction to the evening
- 7.35pm Film - Hamish Henderson: An Artist's Inspiration (Flyting Films) - for a trailer click here
- 8.50pm Short break (further drinks available to purchase from the Harbour Chapel bar)
- 9.05pm Brief talk by the Director regarding the origins of the film
- 9.15pm Questions and discussion
- 9.30pm End of formal event
The event is organised by Yes Dunbar and in the event that it makes a surplus, proceeds will support our ongoing work - see www.yesdunbar.scot. The ground floor of the Harbour Chapel is fully accessible, however, please let us know when booking if you will be bringing a wheelchair so we can arrange you a suitable place for you (most of the seats are former church pews). We recommend travelling on foot or by public transport: The Harbour Chapel is less than 10mins walk from Dunbar rail station, and is just 5 mins from Dunbar High Street which is served by the X7, 106 and 120 buses.
