Charity Wine Event: Scotch Whisky
7:30 pm - 10:00 pm January 18, 2024
Specially timed for the week before Burns Night, we will explore seven different whiskies from across Scotland (distilled from grain, mainly malted barley) – and we’ll compare with a top Cognac (made by distilling wine).
We will unpack terms like single malts, age statements, peat – and the ways of tasting whisky – all in a no-nonsense approach for those who love wine. We will explore, in particular, how wine and whisky production interact, such as the increasing use of wine and sherry casks for aging of Scotch whiskies.
The evening end with a light supper of bread and some Scottish cheeses - and the chance to retaste the whiskies with the food if you wish.
There is no fixed charge for this event, but the event is arranged in support of the Scottish Refugee Council and we suggest a donation of around £25/person (though please give more if you are able to do so).
Please note that a separate booking is needed for each person attending - so if you are booking two people please go through the booking process for each person. If you are booking for a guest please book with the name of the person attending - but you can give your own email if you would like the confirmation to come to yourself.
