People are being given the opportunity to have their say on potential improvements to junctions, pavements and active travel access in Belhaven.

All of the options seek to make the area more accessible and safer to walk and cycle.

Potential options include active travel path improvements, pavement widening, crossing improvements and traffic calming.

Implementing the improvements would be subject to securing external funding, with any construction likely to be undertaken in stages, as funding becomes available over a number of years.

How to get involved

  • Further information is online and people can give their views by completing a survey which runs until 6 October
  • Paper copies are available in Dunbar Library and Area Office at the Bleachingfield Centre
  • A drop-in event will also be held at Dunbar Town House on Thursday, 5 September between 3pm and 7pm.

Councillor John McMillan, Cabinet Spokesperson for Environment, Economic Development and Tourism, said:

“A number of possible options have been developed with a focus on meeting the needs of the community whilst making it easier for people to walk and cycle in Belhaven.

“The survey and drop-in event will give the community an opportunity to view designs and provide feedback. I would encourage as many people as possible to participate.”
