"One of the recommendation requests I most often receive in the bookshop is for well-written but uplifting books (a surprisingly rare genre in contemporary publishing!), and I often turn to The Lost Storyteller, a truly stunning book by Amanda Block, which was released in paperback just as the bookshop opened.
I was so excited to hear that Amanda is publishing a new novel this autumn, The Haunting of Hero's Bay, and when I was lucky enough to receive a proof copy of it this summer, it truly did not disappoint! It's a gripping, sometimes eerie, but very much uplifting novel, with characters that you'll soon care deeply about. Its atmospheric depiction of the Cornish coast also made me long for the sea when I was reading it.
I'm so pleased that Amanda will be joining us for an event at The Harbour Chapel in Dunbar next month, on Monday, 10th November, at 7.30 pm.
I'll be interviewing Amanda about the book and her writing process, followed by a book signing, and as usual, the beautiful bar of The Harbour Chapel will be open for an hour before the event, so that you can catch up with friends over a glass of wine or cocktail, or meet new ones!
