Horizontal Tasting of White Bourgogne and Red Bordeaux

A 'horizontal tasting' compares nearby wines from the same vintage in order to explore the subtle difference between different nearby properties and different winemakers.

From the southern villages of Burgundy (Bourgogne) we will compare 4 whites all from the 2020 vintage (6 years old in 2026 - a perfect age for top whites) from top appellations such as Pouilly-Fuissé. From Bordeaux we will compare 4 top reds from the 2014 vintage (12 years old - perhaps the ideal age for good claret) all from the adjacent adjacent top appellations of St Estephe and Pauillac in the Médoc - all from châteaux rated Cru Bourgeois or Grand Cru Classé.

For many people, this combination of good white Burgundy to start and well-aged red Bordeaux to follow, all from great vintages, is the perfect accompaniment to a classy meal!

The evening will end with a light supper of bread and specially selected Frenchcheeses - and there will be chance to retaste the wines with the food.

There is no fixed charge for this event, but the event is arranged in support of the Scottish Refugee Council and in view of the very special wines we suggest a donation of around £35/person if that is possible (but you are free to give more or less according to your circumstances). You can now book multiple places if you wish.  You can also choose to add one donation for all the places your are booking (no need to make a separate payment for each) - and you can even Gift Aid your donation if you are a taxpayer.
