Wishing Tree by the Sea opened its doors just before the summer holidays in June 2019.
We transformed the café from a rundown basic bowling pavilion into a vibrant, fresh, and stylish venue with welcoming and friendly staff at the heart of the Dunbar community.
Two of our great passions are sharing time with great people and eating great tasting food. By combining them at Lauderdale we hope that the café and park will become a multi-use destination where families and friends gather to eat, meet, play, imagine, create and be active.
At Wishing Tree by the Sea, we provide simple, delicious, great value, bistro style food, fresh ground coffees and yummy home bakes, ice cream, snacks and drinks for all the family.
The café is located just 100m from Dunbar high street, in the beautiful surroundings of Lauderdale Park with walled gardens, picnic tables and wonderful safe play park suitable for children of all ages with a vast choice of outdoor play equipment. Our café has seating for 30 people indoors, a takeaway hatch for food and drinks to go, and a wonderful outdoor covered pergola with views across the park, so you can enjoy a coffee and a catch with friends while the kids play.

Pop-Up Supper Nights: We are delighted to collaborate with our great friends running themed pop-up supper nights with Barbarella Beets, Andreas Greek Tavern and Cascadura taste of the Caribbean.
Private hire: Hire our venue to run workshops, food and drinks tastings and group meetups.
Private Dining: for your special celebrations with family and friends with exclusive hire of the venue.
Fundraising: Host a fundraiser at our Café for your nursery, school or charity.
Park Events
Throughout the year we are hosting an innovative & exciting programme of events bringing families together in the lovely surroundings of Lauderdale Park.
With a community focus we are teaming up with some great partners to run European Stone Stacking Champs, Outdoor Cinema, Art in the Park, Dunbar civic week events to more relaxed Sunday socials throughout the summer with street food, music, and kids’ creation stations.
A recent addition has been the installation of a petanque piste with a new club established and a plan to bring all ages together to play this social friendly and skillfull sport.
