Description:

Tom McMullen took up his training to become an Osteopath/Physiotherapist in 1985 after serving 6 1/2 years in The Royal Scots as a musician/medical assistant. His initial training took place at The Northern Institute in Blackpool where over a 4-year period he gained diplomas in advanced remedial massage. Moving on from there, he studied Osteopathy over a 4-year period.

His interest in sport took him on to train further in Sports Injuries over another 2-year’s period at the FA National Rehabilitation and Sports Injury Centre at Lilleshall, where he successfully gained his diploma in The Treatment and Management of Sports Injuries. Over the years Tom has worked with a number of Sports Clubs the first being Motherwell Football Club when during the season 1988/89 he was employed as their full time Physiotherapist, he also had a short spell as masseur to Dundee United Football Club.

He played with Dunbar Rugby Football Club and worked with other Lothian Clubs such as, Musselburgh RFC, and also Preston Lodge RFC. He was delighted to receive a phone call, in autumn of 1991, to see if he would be interested in becoming the physiotherapist for Boroughmuir Rugby Football Club, which he undertook until the summer of 1997.

While working with BRFC, Tom was approached to work with The Scottish Rugby Union National Squad, he also travelled as sole Physiotherapist to The Scottish Students World Cup in Italy in 1992. Since then, Tom has toured with the full Scottish National Squad to Argentina in 1994, South Africa in 1995 for the Rugby World Cup and also to New Zealand for the tour in 1996. Tom also has run, for the past 37 years, his own private clinics in Haddington and Dunbar namely, Choice Osteopathy and Sports Injury Clinic.

This clinic is now based at the Dunbar, in his wife’s Beauty Salon on Spott Road Dunbar. As the name suggests Tom uses his specialised training in Osteopathy and Sports Injuries combined with rehabilitation to treat a wide range of clients from all walks of life.
